Abstract

|
In the wound healing on the hard palate of the albino rats, the author observed the distribution of sulphated mucosubstance and connective tissue fibers by histochemical methods. In the experimental animals, the wounds were made anteroposterior-linealy by sharp scalpel. They were sacrificed by ether anesthesia, at 6, 12. 24 hours and on 2, 4, 7, 10, 14 days after wounded rats.
The histochemical procedures used were diamine stain(Spicer), benzidine reaction(Bracco & Curti), PAS-azure II stain, Bielschowsky method(Lillie), modified oxytalan method(Gawick & Jarcocinska) and orcinol-new fuchsin stain(Fullmer & Lillie).
The results were as follows:
1. Sulphated mucosubstance showed high activity in the connective tissue bellow blood clot and amorphous ground substance on the second day, and, in the migrating epithelium of the wound margin, basal cell layer and prickle cell layer on the fourth day after wounding.
2. PAS-azure II reactio s were increased in the connective tissue on the from second to seventh day after wounding, and, on the seventh day, in the regenerating epithelium.
3. The connective tissue fibers were increased on the tenth and the fourteenth day after wounding.
